A mouse diced with death when it stole some food from under the nose of a leopard at the Santago Rare Leopard Project in Hertfordshire.
Instead of pouncing on the mouse, the 12-year-old African leopard, called Sheena, simply watched as it fed on scraps of meat thrown into its enclosure.
At one stage she tried to nudge the mouse away with her nose, but the mouse carried on eating regardless.

University is a rollar coaster that is filled with ups and downs.
There are times that you do really good on your exam and you feel like you’re the smartest person alive. There are also times that you fail an exam or have 3 midterms and 2 papers due in the next 3 days. It’s almost surprising how university graduates don’t develop bipolar disorder from this; based on the variability of stress levels induced on a single human being.
This blog post is going to be a list of all my regrets that I can think of. I believe even though there are certain things I should’ve done differently, in the end I have become a better person. This post is merely a tool of reminiscence, but if there are people out there who may read this, may it help you on your road as well.
Regrets —— it’s easy to think of what I SHOULD’VE done instead of have done.
- Not taking university seriously enough for 1st and 2nd year
- Not paying attention/skipping alot in stats 151
- Volunteering too much and for unnecessary things in 1st and 2nd year
- Should’ve tried alot harder for a high GPA in first year, then apply into Pharmacy (in hindsight it’s a really great path to follow)
- Picking up proper study habits too late, finally in 3rd year
- Not tailoring my education to research for a upper hand in future academia experiences (no imin, no micro)
- Taking 2 redundant arts psychology class without realizing it doesn’t contribute to a psychology minor in science
- Minimal effort in physics 124
- Didn’t pay attention in Chemistry 102/261/263
- Barely did any practice problems for any analytical based courses (chem, physics, math, stats)
- studying by “reading notes” for Physics 124 final
- Studying nights before, and cramming until 5:00-8:00am for midterms in 1st/2nd year (granted I did pretty much average while studying this way)
- Cramming for finals (basically the night before as well) in 1st/2nd year
- Financially unstable for 1st/2nd year (lived off very little/parents)
- It’s regretting to say that volunteering with Circle K was a regret (its shitty to mention but I was already a leader prior to volunteering, it was only a time drain and I had very little personal development from it)
- Spending alot of time associating with HUB (it was good while it lasted, but in the end it’s a broken chain of friendship interactions, too cliquey and dramatic)
- Skipping alot of Physiology/Immunology classes - if I had pursued physiology with alot more effort, I would be reaping my rewards now in hindsight
- Not catering my academia towards getting into medicine, more for knowledge variety
- Not taking Pharmacology - wished I had directly spoken to the instructors to take the classes instead of assuming it’s restricted to 2nd year students as mentioned in the calendar
- Studying the final for Psych 258 by merely skimming the notes over once
- Skipping almost every Psych 281 night class
- Taking Econ 102 (or at least should’ve paid attention to it)
- Should have made better/close friends with people who are very academically orientated/engaged
- Should’ve learned when to party/when to study better in 3rd year
- Should’ve learned to put MORE time in to studying in 3rd year
- Didn’t plan for graduate studies in the beginning of 3rd year but it would’ve been a good leeway after graduation
- Wish I were more true to myself about my academia than I usually am
That’s all the regrets that I can think of for now, if I think of more I’ll edit my post.

Wow..
I really suck at blogging don’t I? Aww well - there are times in your life when you feel the need to type out your emotions, feelings and perspectives in the world. As well a time when you just don’t.. have time.
This is one of those times when I feel like typing.
Closing in on graduating university, finishing up the second semester now with about a month left. Wow! What a journey! University has taught me so many things in life that my prior life appears to have been infinitesimally unimportant. Elementary, Junior, and High School seemed so important back then, until you come to the realization that it’s honestly just a tiny scratch on giant blackboard. I still remember the first day of moving my life up to Edmonton and living by myself. HUB mall and hauling furniture up and down 8 flights of stairs.. being late for the UofA orientation, meeting some great team leaders who gave us a great introduction into university.. some of my first classes and cleaning up/dressing up myself for the new experiences/meeting new people: chem 101, getting to meet some Edmontonians whom I’m still friends with til this day- and being able to convocate with them come June. Sitting outside Biol 108 before it started which ultimately led me to meet one of my good friends in the long run, Alexandra. Psych 104 night class and bumping into my team leader from orientation. Stats 151 and how much I hated that class — but also realizing at the end of the day (now) that it’s SUCH a useful course. English, and how much I didn’t like the class, but still being a good student and pulling through with it (9:30am class every TR is horrendous!)
And now we’ve come to this point in time where I’m finishing the 4th year of my undergraduate degree. The amount of knowledge I have gained is quite surprising in retrospect. To be able to live in this world and understand alot more than the general population (normatively of course) is quite astonishing. Physiology, biochemistry, immunology, psychology, and everything in between. You can go to the doctors and actually understand to a great extent what they are talking about and how your human body works; in addition to the underlying impacts your nutrition/exercise/immunity has on your life.
There’s also the huge takeaway of critical thinking and being able to analyze anything from various perspectives and then being able to dictate your ideas through words. I believe this skill is the most significant of all. I also believe this is the sole concept that separates a child from an adult. The universal concept of age is not definitive. The ability to critically think and deal with responsibilities is the only thing that separates the child and the adult.
And it all boils down to convocation in June. There are things I have enjoyed, and things I have regretted but ultimately I would not pass my experience up for almost anything. I believe I have become a well-rounded individual in the end and that is what counts.
I shall elaborate on the things I should’ve/shouldn’t have done in my university experience in my next post.

Wow!
So I haven’t blogged since ancient times.. it’s been a while!
I want to make it one of my New Years Resolutions to blog more because I think it’s so important to keep track of your own history! Soo… another semester of school has gone by, and another one has neared. I have to say I didn’t do much ‘studying’ and I did alot of ‘partying.’ Which.. in the end, does matter despite what people may think. I’m going to try and make it one of my goals to study alot more consistently this semester and to do better. And alot less partying.
Which doesn’t mean I CAN’T party. I’m currently trying to set up 2 residencies at a club and a bar, Lucky13 and The Rack. If all goes successfully, I will be able to work 6 hours a week, making $400 just partying and taking photographs every Friday/Saturday night. That’s what my life is about now.. Club photography and school.
This brings me to my next train of thought. Since the last time I blogged, alot of big events have gone by, alot of amazing DJs have been to Edmonton—- and alot of photos have been taken. There was Metropolis, Pure, Blackout, Scream, and a couple of DJs here and there. And last but not least, the latest, Mau5querade Ball.
Boodang was able to bring Deadmau5 to play a NYE Prequel as well as the NYE party. Mau5querade was the theme, meaning it was a classy, dressed up rave. Amazing. It in fact got sold out within 48 hours of ticket sales. And oh man, did it ever blow my mind. This definitely defined the best new years eve party I have ever had - such an amazing show with deadmau5, Skrillex and Showtek (And Calvin Harris in the prior night) And I have to say, the photos turned out amazingly!
With Night Limages, the company I am a part of, we have definitely grown to operate efficiently and effectively. We had a photobooth set up which had the mau5 cube as a prop, and everything ran smoothly. Also this was the first huge event that I got to essentially shoot the whole night. Usually I have to run the photobooth, but as a company has decided that it would be good for me to eventually take the role of capturing the dance floor, pit and stage shots (the important role).
Amazing. Simply amazing. Everyone was in such high spirits, and the classiness / theme was just overwhelming. Countdown on the Cube was also the highlight.. then deadmau5 playing his set introducing the new year. Unforgettable. Afterwards, Skrillex came on. Amazing guy. People with backstage access were permitted to go on stage at this point, so I was working/chillin’ with everyone on stage. Skrillexs’ girlfriend, Penny was definitely someone to mention, such a cool, fun, bubbly girl that got I got along with. She definitely liked my photos - so we will be giving her some awesome shots!
At the end of Skrillexs’ set I also got to get a photo with him, and I completely love it!

Not much else besides this.. just photo editing and preparing for school and freezing man!!

Life.. comes and goes.
That is what blogging is about at least, to write down what occurs so that it can be reminisced upon later on. And a reminder for myself to never forget, genuine-ness to yourself is important - and I find that I will forever be true to people ONLY as much as they are true to me. It’s only fair.
On another note - Just saw Inception. An AMAZING movie, probably best of 2010. A really well constructed plot and developed concept. A must watch for sure! Also I’ve read that people say you cannot figure it out with the first viewing.. well I did. Anyone can.. as long as you’re halfway intelligent. I would be watching it again not because I couldn’t figure it out, but because it was simply amazing.
